Saudi tanker Encelia had come under attack in the Red Sea causing a fire at its bow, but all crew members were safe, a Saudi official said in a statement early Thursday. The official from the General Transport Authority said the vessel, operated by a Saudi company, was targeted while sailing in the Red Sea resulting in a fire in its forward section. He added that all crew members were unharmed and that the relevant authorities had taken all necessary measures to secure the vessel and its crew and protect the marine environment. The official added that such attacks violate international laws and norms safeguarding the safety of commercial shipping and their crews.
