Saudi Ministry of Communications, DCO, and AMD Launch OpenAI Ecosystem

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced on Monday the launch of an initiative to establish an open ecosystem aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) innovation by providing developers, startups, and software engineers with open-source software tools, training programs, and community engagement initiatives. As part of LEAP 2026, the three entities held the initiative’s first workshop to introduce participants to AMD’s AI Developer Program, the company’s integrated portfolio of AI-focused computing technologies, and the open-source AMD ROCm software ecosystem for AI application development. The workshop also highlighted the DCO’s training course and tools on AI ethics and responsible governance. The initiative connects developers, startups, and digital talent with technical expertise, open innovation resources, and learning opportunities from AMD, alongside the DCO’s AI governance resources, to support the responsible adoption of AI technologies. By strengthening developer skills and expanding startup participation, the collaboration aims to build local AI capabilities and help turn Saudi Arabia’s AI investments into new applications and services.
