RIYADH — Land, sea, and air customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,078 seizures of contraband last week. The seized items included 107 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills, in addition to 402 other prohibited materials. Customs ports also foiled attempts to smuggle 2,024 tobacco products and their derivatives, along with 30 types of cash and two types of weapons and related equipment. The seizures were part of the ongoing efforts of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and protect society from all types and forms of prohibited substances. The ZATCA affirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure the security and protection of society, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners. ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling in order to protect society and the national economy by contacting the authority through the dedicated security reporting hotline (1910), email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (009661910). Through these channels, ZATCA receives reports concerning smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality. The authority offers a financial reward to whistleblowers when the information provided is accurate.
