Saudi Arabia provides SR224 million in new budget support to Yemen

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has provided more than SR224 million in new financial support to Yemen’s budget to help cover operational expenses and salaries.The support, provided through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) under the directives of the Saudi leadership, is intended to help ensure regular government financial flows and salary payments while improving the efficiency of fiscal policy.The funding is also expected to support economic and social development by strengthening purchasing power, providing families with more regular income and stimulating commercial activity.Saudi Arabia has provided more than $12.6 billion in development and economic assistance to Yemen between 2012 and 2026, including deposits and grants to the Central Bank of Yemen aimed at supporting fiscal balance and broader macroeconomic stability.The Kingdom’s assistance has also focused on strengthening the capacity of Yemeni institutions to continue providing essential services and mitigating economic and social pressures.Through SDRPY, Saudi Arabia has implemented 300 development projects and initiatives across eight vital sectors in Yemen.The projects and initiatives have focused on improving infrastructure and essential services, developing the capabilities of Yemeni professionals and creating employment opportunities, with the broader goal of supporting sustainable and comprehensive development.
