NEW YORK — Saudi Arabia will provide $6 million in financial support for programs run by the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center (UNCCT), Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced during a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.During the meeting, Prince Faisal expressed his appreciation to Guterres as he approaches the end of his tenure as UN secretary-general, commending his efforts during his time in office.The two sides also reviewed areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations and discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest.The Kingdom’s $6 million contribution to the UNCCT will be distributed over four calendar years beginning in the 2027 fiscal year.The support reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening the role of the UN center in providing capacity-building programs across various areas of counter-terrorism.The contribution comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its perpetrators, while supporting international cooperation and coordinated global action in the field.Saudi Arabia has maintained longstanding cooperation with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and played a key role in establishing the UNCCT, contributing $110 million to support its creation and activities.The Kingdom also recently provided $300,000 to finance a project supporting the Arab Strategy for Counter-Terrorism.
