Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah announced that the Kingdom will provide $6 million in financial support for the programs of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center (UNCCT). The announcement was made during his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Kingdom’s financial contribution to the Center will be provided over four calendar years, beginning in the 2027 fiscal year. This support reflects the Kingdom’s belief in the importance of a United Nations center dedicated to delivering capacity-building programs across various areas of counter-terrorism. The Kingdom’s support for UNCCT stems from its pivotal role in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its perpetrators, as well as its recognition of the Center’s importance and its constructive and effective role in building the capacities of member states and unifying global efforts in this field. The contribution also represents a continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism. The Kingdom initially contributed $110 million to UNCCT’s establishment and, more recently, provided $300,000 to fund the Arab Counter-Terrorism Strategy project.
