AI chip frenzy propels South Korean giant to historic valuation milestone

The market value of Samsung Electronics topped $1 trillion for the first time on Wednesday, riding an AI chip boom that has sent South Korean stocks to record highs.

It came as the country's benchmark Kospi index also jumped by more than five percent in morning trading, blowing through the 7,000-point milestone at the opening bell for the first time.
