WASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including Saturday's deadly strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that killed 12 people, among them an American citizen.“The United States strongly condemns the recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the terrorist Houthis, including today’s strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that took numerous innocent lives, including an American citizen,” Rubio said in a statement.“These reprehensible attacks demonstrate a blatant disregard for innocent civilian life. They must stop now,” he added.Rubio reaffirmed Washington's solidarity with Saudi Arabia, saying: “We stand with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people and extend our condolences to the victims and their families.”His remarks followed confirmation by Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) that Saturday's attack killed 12 people, including four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshis and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.The authority said 309 others were injured, including several in critical condition, while the attack caused property damage at the airport.The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said Saturday's Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh constituted a war crime and vowed a firm response in accordance with international humanitarian law.
