PM reviews governance of subsidy, social protection systems

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting on Tuesday at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to follow up on efforts to improve governance of subsidy and social protection systems. The meeting was attended by Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, and senior officials from the ministries of finance, supply, and social solidarity. At the start of the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the state’s commitment to enhancing subsidy programs for targeted groups, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He stressed the importance of continuously upgrading these systems by building updated databases to ensure that support reaches those most in need with greater accuracy and transparency. Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany said the meeting reviewed efforts by various agencies to build comprehensive databases covering eligible groups for initiatives and programs that provide social protection. He noted that these efforts aim to improve citizens’ living standards through development and service projects, raise the efficiency of public services, and advance social justice. The discussions also highlighted the need to enhance the efficiency of public spending on such initiatives and programs to maximize their impact of subsidy and social protection systems.
