Petroleum minister, Elsewedy Electric CEO probe Ain Sokhna phosphate project

CAIRO, April 23 (MENA) – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi conferred on Thursday with CEO of Elsewedy Electric Ahmed El Sewedy on steps to speed up implementation of the phosphate industries complex in Ain Sokhna. The project is being developed in cooperation with the Mineral Resources Authority as part of plans to expand industrial use of phosphate and increase added value instead of exporting raw materials. Badawi said that the government is working to improve the investment climate and expand private sector participation in mining and industrial projects through regulatory and legislative reforms. Sewedy stated that the company is continuing to expand its investments in industrial and mining activities, benefiting from opportunities in the sector. Both sides agreed to continue coordination to complete studies and procedures ahead of implementation.
