Netanyahu’s party accuses Qatar, Turkey of meddling in Israeli election

ALBAWABA - Likud party, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, allegedly accused Qatar and Turkey of meddling in the current Israeli Knesset elections via get-out-the-vote groups, an Israeli news outlet reported Thursday.

The Times of Israel said that Netanyahu's Likud party believes that Qatar and Turkey have financed get-out-the-vote groups for Arab citizens to encourage them to vote in the Israeli election.

It is worth noting that the Shin Bet has launched a probe into the get-out-the-vote groups for Arab citizens, Hebrew-language media Channel 12 revealed.

Central Elections Committee head Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg received a report from the country's intelligence that Qatar and Turkey could have sent funds to those groups. In return, Solberg ordered Shin Bet chief David Zini to open an investigation into "suspicions regarding foreign funding and suspicion of electoral bribery by foreign entities."

On the other hand, earlier on Oct. 29, Israeli police dismissed Likud party's accusations that the election was"stolen" by the Arab parties, stressing that the claims are baseless and that there was "no supporting evidence".
