RIYADH — The Ministry of Energy launched on Thursday the qualification phase for competitions to establish, own, and operate truck-based compressed natural gas (CNG) distribution projects by tankers in the Riyadh and Eastern regions. These competitions are part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the natural gas sector’s infrastructure, improve service quality, foster a competitive environment in this vital field, and enhance the use of technology to facilitate access to natural gas. With the aim of maximizing the economic, environmental, and social benefits of petroleum resources, this is expected to help reduce reliance on liquid fuels and support the transition toward natural gas. The ministry invited entities interested in participating in the competitions to contact it via email at GNRFP-CNG@MOENERGY.GOV.SA to obtain the qualification booklet by June 18, 2026. The deadline for submitting qualification documents is July 30, 2026.
