ALBAWABA - Mert Ramazan Demir and Lizge Cömert lead Kanal D upcoming series Susuz Yaz.
The highly anticipated Susuz Yaz has taken another major step toward reaching the screen as its impressive cast came together for the series' first table read.
The new Kanal D drama is being produced by Ay Yapım and is adapted from Necati Cumalı’s acclaimed work of the same name. The project brings together a large ensemble cast led by Mert Ramazan Demir and Lizge Cömert, with preparations now moving closer to filming in Adana.
First Table Read Brings the Cast Together
The cast gathered for the first time for the reading rehearsal on September 25, giving the actors an opportunity to meet and begin working together before cameras start rolling.
The series is directed by Yusuf Pirhasan and Mehmet Can Bindal, while the screenplay is written by Sema Ergenekon. The creative team is preparing to bring Cumalı’s story to a new television audience while maintaining the atmosphere of the original work.
The latest reports also confirm that the production is scheduled to begin filming in Adana in early October. Birsen Altuntaş previously reported that the team was preparing to move to the set during the first week of October.

Mert Ramazan Demir plays Osman, while Lizge Cömert takes on the role of Bahar.
The cast also includes Batuhan Bozkurt Yüzügüleç as Hasan, Şebnem Bozoklu as Döne, İrem Sak as Yeter, Serpil Gül as Beyaz, Deniz Celiloğlu as Resul, Umut Kurt as Ramo, Şirin Sultan Şaldamlı as Fatma, Güneş Sayın as Hatice, Begüm Akkaya as Dilan, Ilgım İpekçi as Elvan, Meriç Rakalar as Müslüm, Özgür Daniel Foster as Murtaza, Kayra Zapçı as Gülşen, Esra Ünnü as Filiz and Kemal Burak Alper as Cevri.
Several of these casting decisions were revealed gradually as preparations continued. Meriç Rakalar, for example, joined the project as Müslüm, who is described as a close friend of Osman. Birsen Altuntaş also reported that Kemal Burak Alper's role changed during the casting process, with the actor ultimately taking on Cevri.

Susuz Yaz is based on Necati Cumalı’s work, which has previously inspired a well-known film adaptation. The television version is being developed as a period drama centered on a family and the conflicts surrounding land and water.
Recent Turkish reports have described the story as taking place in the 1970s and focusing on two brothers whose lives become complicated by a dispute over a water source. Deniz Celiloğlu's character Resul is also expected to become an important source of conflict. He plays the father of Bahar and Murtaza and is described as a man whose gambling and nightlife habits have brought serious consequences for his family.
The production has also been preparing its actors for the regional setting. Reports said members of the cast have been receiving Adana dialect training to help reflect the story's local atmosphere more naturally on screen.
Filming is expected to begin in Adana in early October, with the production continuing preparations following the table read. Kanal D has confirmed that the series will air on the channel, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced in the latest official announcement.
With the cast now assembled and filming approaching, Susuz Yaz is entering one of the most important stages of its preparation.
