The Libraries Commission has launched the summer reading challenge 2026 to encourage children and adolescents to read, foster a culture of reading, and develop their knowledge and skills during the summer holiday. The challenge targets children and adolescents aged 6 to 14, who are required to read a selection of books tailored to their age groups during the initiative, which runs until August 30, 2026, SPA reported. It offers cash prizes worth up to SAR100,000 to encourage participants to continue reading and make it a daily habit that broadens their horizons, develops their skills, and strengthens their connection with books. The Libraries Commission urged parents to motivate their children to take part in the challenge and make the most of the summer holiday through a learning journey that combines enjoyment with education. The initiative seeks to nurture a generation that is more passionate about reading and better equipped for lifelong learning and expanding their knowledge.
