ALBAWABA - Ken Urker, the longtime partner and former fiancé of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the father of her daughter, has died at 34 after being found unresponsive inside his Louisiana home.
Ken Urker was found dead on Thursday, October 1, in Raceland, Louisiana, on what was his 34th birthday. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the residence shortly after 6 p.m. for a welfare check.
The welfare check was requested after Urker failed to show up for work and stopped responding to calls and messages. According to the police report, family members and people close to him became increasingly concerned about his whereabouts.
When people entered the home, Urker was found unresponsive in his bedroom. First responders arrived and confirmed that he had died.
New details from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office have added more questions to the case.
According to the incident report, deputies discovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside the home, including syringes, a spoon and a brown powdery substance. A syringe and a holstered handgun were also reportedly found on the nightstand beside his bed.
Despite those discoveries, authorities have not officially declared an overdose as the cause of death.
The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office said an autopsy has been completed, but the final cause of death is still pending toxicology results. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Authorities have also said there is currently no evidence of foul play, although the investigation remains open.
Following the news, Gypsy Rose Blanchard spoke publicly about Ken Urker’s death and revealed what she believes happened.
In an emotional statement to PEOPLE, Blanchard said she believes Urker died from an overdose but admitted she does not know whether it was intentional. She said he had not been in a good state of mind recently.
“I’m in disbelief. I can’t think,” Blanchard told PEOPLE, describing the shock of losing him.
She remembered Urker as an amazing father to their daughter, Aurora, and called him her soulmate. She also asked for privacy as the family deals with the loss.

For now, the biggest unanswered question is the official cause of death.
