Dubai: Noor, the mother of Jordanian child Katia Abu Al-Saud, announced that she and her daughter had travelled to Dubai to begin Katia’s treatment journey at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital.In a post on Instagram on Saturday, Noor shared a photo from Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and wrote: “To Dubai, the home of the living… With God’s blessings, Katia and I are heading to Dubai to begin her treatment journey.”She also expressed her gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, writing: “All thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for standing with us and sponsoring Katia’s treatment.”His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has undertaken to cover the cost of treatment for Katia, who is one year and four months old and suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, according to an announcement by the Dubai Government Media Office.The initiative came after Katia’s mother appealed for help on her social media account, stating that doctors in Jordan had confirmed that the treatment required for her daughter’s condition was not available in the country. She said the family’s hope, after God, was in Al Jalila Children’s Hospital.The family said the treatment costs around $2.4 million, equivalent to approximately Dh8.8 million, an amount beyond their financial means.Katia’s father, Omar Abu Al-Saud, previously said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s decision had restored hope to the family after a long period of worry and suffering. He said the sponsorship had given his daughter a new opportunity and thanked everyone who helped share Katia’s story and support the family.
