The Jordanian government condemned statements by the Houthi militia's military spokesperson threatening freedom of navigation, SPA reported. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali affirmed Jordan's total rejection of these statements and its absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and security. He called on the international community to ensure implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed by international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
