JEDDAH — The Jeddah Mayoralty began on Sunday issuing evacuation notices for 129 dilapidated buildings in the Ghulail district. The mayoralty stated that specialized teams from the General Directorate of Emergency and Crisis Management have commenced serving field notices for the buildings included in the initiative, in preparation for completing the approved regulatory procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities. This is part of the mayoralty’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and safeguard lives and property from the hazards posed by unsafe structures. This initiative forms part of the mayoralty’s broader program to address dilapidated buildings across the governorate, following earlier phases that covered districts such as Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Rabwah, Al-Farouq, and Al-Ruwais. These phases involved field monitoring and the completion of regulatory procedures for cases requiring intervention. The mayoralty emphasized that the approved regulatory procedures will continue, beginning with the monitoring and documentation of building conditions, followed by notifying owners and providing the legally mandated grace period, and concluding with the necessary measures to address the buildings’ conditions in accordance with applicable regulations.
