Is the Middle East on the brink of another US-Iran war?

On the Iranian side, preparations for the next war are continuing, with a determination to raise tensions in the Strait of Hormuz in order to keep oil prices high and, consequently, cause the Republicans to lose the midterm elections and punish Trump for waging two wars against Iran. Iran may not be alone in wanting to punish Trump. A Reuters/Ipsos poll, the results of which were published on Monday, showed that the US president’s popularity had fallen to its lowest level ever, amid Americans’ concerns over rising gasoline and diesel prices and their apparent readiness to punish the Republican Party in the November 3 congressional elections. Trump is resorting to every possible means to prevent Republican losses, most recently warning Americans that the United States would “burn like France” if the Democrats won.
