Iraqi PM orders investigation into Saudi drone attack allegations

Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has ordered security authorities to investigate Saudi Arabia’s allegation that drones targeting the kingdom were launched from Iraqi territory, according to a statement by armed forces spokesman Sabah al-Numan.

Baghdad said it remains committed to preventing Iraqi soil from being used as a launchpad for attacks on neighbouring states and warned it would take legal action against anyone found to be responsible.

The government described its ties with Saudi Arabia as “deep-rooted and fraternal”, promising to protect Iraq’s sovereignty and safeguard regional security and stability.
