Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that Tehran was not responsible for the strike that targeted two Egyptian vessels at Damietta Port. In a post on his official X account, Araghchi said: “Egypt is an important friend and partner in the region, and its security is of utmost importance to us.” He urged vigilance against “Israeli plots and false-flag operations designed to undermine regional peace.” He added that “the threat is clear, mutual, and fearful of Muslim solidarity,” calling on countries in the region to remain alert to attempts to drag them into further escalation.
