ALBAWABA - An Iranian official urged his country to develop an atomic bomb amid continued tension in the region, the failure in reaching a peace deal with the United States, and possible resumption of war.
Ahmad Naderi, an Iranian politician who is a member of the Presiding Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, called for the development of a nuclear bomb and a review of Iran's nuclear policy, arguing that current circumstances necessitate a reassessment of the Iranian nuclear program.
In remarks reported by the news website Didban Iran, Naderi revealed that he expects the current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, to issue a fatwa on nuclear weapons that differs from that of his late father, Ali Khamenei, who had prohibited the production of nuclear weapons.

He further explained that he has been advocating for more than 10 years for conducting an actual nuclear test and building an atomic bomb, noting that he publicly raised the need to change Iran's strategic policy in the parliament after the assassination of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
The official noted that Iran had not previously been under attack, but now faces different circumstances, arguing that this change necessitates a reassessment of strategic options regarding the nuclear issue.
