What follows is the text of the statement: At dawn on Friday, 18 Ordibehesht (May 8), while U.S. naval forces were attempting to escort 3 of their destroyers that had violated the law—under air support—out of the Strait of Hormuz toward the Sea of Oman, the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, in a joint missile-drone operation, attacked this naval group with 8 cruise missiles and 24 suicide drones.
