The Houthis targeted a Yemeni government forces camp in the southeastern province of Shabwa with three ballistic missiles on Monday, with preliminary reports indicating around 50 people killed or wounded in an attack on a training center for security and police personnel. A spokesperson for Yemeni government forces said the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at a camp in the Al-Alam area of Jardan district, explaining that the targeted facility houses a training center for security and police recruits. Following the attack, Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi was briefed on developments and directed the relevant authorities to provide necessary medical care to the wounded, support the victims' families, complete procedures to settle their entitlements and ensure payment of their salaries. According to the Presidential Leadership Council's media office, Al-Alimi spoke by telephone with Shabwa Governor Awad bin Al-Wazir and stressed the need to take appropriate measures to respond to the sources of the attack. Al-Alimi said the targeting of recruits reflected what he described as the Houthis' tendency to resort to attacks whenever they face pressure or their plans encounter setbacks. He accused the group of acting in accordance with an Iranian-backed agenda. The Presidential Leadership Council chairman stressed that the attack would not deter the state from fulfilling its responsibilities to protect citizens and restore state institutions. He also emphasized the importance of caring for the victims' families and honoring their sacrifices, while extending condolences to the families of those killed and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
