Hezbollah bets on changing Lebanon’s power equation rather than its own course

Hezbollah is relying on the understanding brokered by Pakistan between Washington and Tehran to protect Lebanon and all the fronts of Iran’s regional axis. It considers the Lebanese-Israeli “framework agreement” a failure from the moment it was signed, arguing that it did not include sufficient commitments to ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal and the return of prisoners. Yet no one has so far asked what success has actually been achieved under the US-Iranian agreement, or which commitments and provisions have been implemented. The two agreements appear to have been placed in the same basket. Failure is spreading across all fronts, while Washington is in no hurry. Iran, despite everything, has neither emerged victorious nor will it do so. And Lebanon, part of which is relying on Iran, will not emerge victorious either, whether alongside it or without it.
