GCC finance ministers review strengthening economic cooperation

RIYADH — Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan headed Saudi Arabia’s delegation attending the 126th Meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Bahrain on Thursday.‏The meeting was chaired by Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa, with the participation of the GCC ministers of finance and the GCC secretary general.‏During the meeting, the ministers reviewed a number of topics related to strengthening financial and economic cooperation, including progress achieved in the GCC Customs Union, and the adoption of the Periodic Report on Monitoring the Progress of the Gulf Common Market. The ministers also discussed regional developments and their potential implications for GCC countries, as well as ways to strengthen joint coordination in addressing them.‏Minister Al-Jadaan also participated in the joint meeting between the finance ministers and central bank governors of the GCC countries and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva. The meeting discussed an IMF paper titled “Economic Prospects and Policy Challenges: Enhancing Economic Resilience to Geopolitical Shocks.
