Set in the village of Çarlak in 1970s Çukurova, the story follows brothers Osman and Hasan as they work the land and try to make a living. Their relationship faces a serious test when Osman falls in love with Bahar and begins dreaming of a different future.
Hasan, however, has his own plans, and his actions threaten to stand in the way of his younger brother’s happiness. As tensions grow, disputes over land and water deepen the conflict between the brothers and the people around them.
The story also explores complicated family relationships and the struggles of village life. With love and loyalty caught up in questions of ownership and power, the brothers’ conflict becomes central to the drama.

The screenplay is written by Sema Ergenekon, known for her work on the hit Turkish drama Yargı. Yusuf Pirhasan and Mehmet Can Bindal are named as directors in Kanal D’s announcement, with production handled by Ay Yapım.
The team prepared for the period setting before filming began. Reports say cast members took horse-riding and regional dialect lessons to help them fit the world of 1970s Çukurova. The production delay caused by the weather was brief, and filming moved forward once conditions allowed.
Ay Yapım also sent Ergenekon flowers to mark the first day of filming. The accompanying note celebrated the beginning of the story in the region that inspired the series, a gesture the screenwriter later shared on social media.
Susuz Yaz is being prepared for Kanal D, which has described the series as coming soon. However, an exact premiere date has not yet been officially announced. With filming now underway and its cast assembled, further updates are expected as production continues.
