Dubai: Fatima Mohammed Al Joker, Senior Legal Advisor and Head of the Women's Committee at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), revealed that Emirati women hold 60% of supervisory positions within the authority, a figure she said is among the highest globally.Speaking during a panel session titled "Emirati Women: Leadership and Influence in Vital Sectors" at the second edition of the Emirati Women's Forum, Al Joker highlighted the growing role of Emirati women across DEWA's operations and leadership structure.She said DEWA employs more than 1,900 women across various sectors, noting that 85% of the female workforce are Emirati women, one of the highest rates of female Emiratisation.Al Joker added that more than 800 women work in engineering, technical and field roles, reflecting the growing presence of Emirati women in specialised and technical positions.She said the opportunities provided by the UAE have enabled Emirati women to develop broader perspectives and expand their participation across various sectors, including through representation on boards of directors."The role of Emirati women has gone beyond empowerment and participation," she said. "Their impact today extends across different forums and fields, while the opportunities and support available to them have helped strengthen their capabilities and enhance their presence."Al Joker attributed the progress achieved by Emirati women to the continued support of the UAE leadership, which has consistently believed in the importance of women's participation in national development.She concluded by saying that Emirati women have demonstrated their capabilities across diverse sectors and leadership positions, proving themselves to be highly capable contributors to society and the economy."Emirati women have proven themselves today in various forums and have demonstrated that they are highly trustworthy. We see them present across different fields," she said.
