Dubai: Emirates has advised passengers travelling to and from the United Kingdom to check their flight status after a technical issue affecting the UK's air traffic control provider disrupted air traffic across the country.In an operational update issued at 6:40pm Dubai time on Tuesday, Emirates said flights arriving at and departing from UK airports were experiencing delays and disruptions due to the technical problem affecting the UK air traffic control system.The airline urged customers to regularly check flight status updates on its website and monitor their email for notifications regarding delays, schedule changes or cancellations.Emirates also asked passengers to ensure their contact details are up to date through the airline's booking management system to receive the latest travel updates.The carrier apologised for any inconvenience caused and advised customers to verify their flight status before travelling to the airport.The disruption followed a technical fault in the UK's air traffic control system that resulted in the cancellation of approximately 1,100 flights to and from British airports.According to Flightradar24, 1,055 flights had been cancelled by 7 pm GMT.The UK's air traffic control authority said the technical issue had been resolved and operations had returned to normal. However, it noted that recovery took longer than expected, leading to a backlog of flights, and apologised to passengers for the disruption.
