Dubai: Emirates has unveiled the U-Dream Headrest, a new addition to its Economy Class seats designed to provide enhanced head and neck support during flights.The airline is introducing the headrest across its fleet as part of a broader investment in customer comfort, with installation already under way. The U-Dream headrest will be fitted on all Emirates A350 aircraft, future Boeing 777X deliveries and most retrofitted Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.The U-Dream is a multi-adjustable headrest integrated into Emirates' Z400 Economy Class seat, developed by Safran Seats. The leather-padded design features flexible side wings that fold inward to support the head and neck during sleep or relaxation, helping passengers maintain a comfortable position throughout the flight. The headrest can also move vertically and tilt to accommodate different heights and seating preferences.The product has been independently tested and certified to meet the safety standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said: "Emirates never rests on its laurels when it comes to customer experience and we have found a way to significantly improve the comfort for Economy Class passengers, especially those travelling long-haul. The U-Dream changes the game if the person wants to sleep – by supporting the neck in full. No more neck pillows needed. It's another innovation that shows our commitment to customers and cements our Economy Class as the best."The headrest is already available on three Emirates A350 aircraft currently in service. Emirates plans to complete installation across all A350 aircraft by the end of the year.All 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order will be delivered with the U-Dream headrest pre-installed. Installation on Emirates' retrofitted Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets is scheduled to begin from 2027.Emirates said cabin crew have been trained to assist passengers in adjusting the new headrest and that the unit is cleaned after every flight.Enhanced Economy Class experienceThe introduction of the U-Dream headrest forms part of Emirates' wider efforts to enhance the Economy Class travel experience.All Emirates flights are operated using widebody aircraft, including the Airbus A380, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777, offering wider cabins, larger overhead storage bins and spacious cabin layouts. Economy Class cabins feature ergonomic seating, personal entertainment screens, mood lighting and generous legroom.On the airline's latest Airbus A350 aircraft, Economy Class passengers benefit from a 3-3-3 seating configuration, 13.3-inch 4K entertainment screens, USB-C charging ports, higher cabin ceilings and the latest adjustable seating features.Inflight entertainment and connectivityEmirates' inflight entertainment system, ice, offers more than 6,500 channels of content, including movies, television programmes, documentaries, music, podcasts and live sports. Content partnerships include HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+, BBC, Discovery+, Shahid and Spotify.The airline is also rolling out Starlink connectivity across its fleet, enabling passengers to stream content, browse the internet, work and stay connected throughout their journey. Emirates said customers have already made more than one million Starlink connections onboard its aircraft.Dining and hospitalityEmirates continues to offer complimentary multi-course meals and beverages across all cabin classes and flight lengths. Menus are inspired by regional cuisines and cater to a wide range of dietary requirements through special meal options.The airline was recently ranked among the top performers for onboard dining, receiving recognition for its Economy Class and Business Class meal offerings in the 2026 Best Airline Food and Drinks Survey.Cabin crew representing more than 140 nationalities and speaking over 70 languages provide onboard service across the airline's global network. Crew members receive training at the Emirates Centre of Hospitality Excellence in Dubai.Family-friendly travelEmirates maintains a strong focus on family travel, offering children's meals, baby food, activity kits, toys, entertainment content and family-oriented services designed to make travelling easier for parents and young passengers.Long-haul Economy passengers also receive complimentary amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife, while children receive Emirates' Fly With Me activity packs and travel accessories.Global networkThrough its Dubai hub, Emirates connects destinations across six continents and handles nearly three million pieces of baggage every month, with a baggage handling success rate of 99.9 per cent.Passengers can also earn and redeem miles through the Emirates Skywards loyalty programme across flights, upgrades, hotels, shopping and experiences, while younger travellers can participate through the Skywards Skysurfers programme.
