DUISBURG, Germany — Omar Hossam El-Din has written a new chapter in Egyptian rowing history. The young talent reached the semi-finals of the World Under-23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany, becoming the first Egyptian rower to achieve this milestone in the age category. Hossam booked his place in the semi-finals with a strong performance in the lightweight men’s single sculls. His result is a historic moment for Egyptian rowing and another sign of the sport’s steady progress. Hossam will compete in the semi-finals on Saturday, July 25, against rowers from Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and Tunisia. The top three will qualify for the Final A and fight for medals. The rest will move to the Final B. He hopes to continue his historic run and move closer to winning Egypt’s first-ever medal at the World Under-23 Championships. The achievement shows the progress of Egyptian rowing and the federation’s focus on developing young talent. Competing against the world’s best rowing nations gives athletes valuable international experience.
