Egypt’s military production ministry explores expanded partnership with SC Johnson

Salah Gombalat, Minister of State for Military Production, met with Fisk Johnson, Chairperson and CEO of SC Johnson, to discuss strengthening bilateral industrial cooperation and expanding the long-standing partnership between Egypt and the US-based company. Opening the meeting, Gombalat expressed pride in the ministry’s collaboration with SC Johnson, which dates back to 1979. He described the partnership as a “successful model of industrial collaboration with one of the world’s leading American manufacturers of chemical products and household cleaning solutions,” including insecticides, air fresheners, and cleaning products. The minister noted that cooperation between Abu Zaabal Company for Specialised Chemicals (Factory 18 Military Production) and SC Johnson has achieved significant successes over the decades, overcoming challenges and laying the foundation for deeper collaboration in the coming period. He emphasized that attracting foreign investment and deepening local manufacturing remain top priorities, in line with President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi’s directives to expand private sector participation in industry. Gombalat added that partnerships with international firms such as SC Johnson support technology transfer, localization of advanced manufacturing, and expansion of exports—enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products and generating greater added value for the national economy. He further stressed that sustaining and expanding investments requires adopting modern industrial strategies and management practices to ensure long-term success and maximize returns. Fisk Johnson praised the ministry’s manufacturing and technological capabilities, reaffirming SC Johnson’s commitment to maintaining and developing bilateral cooperation. He also expressed the company’s aspiration to expand investments in Egypt, strengthening its access to markets across Africa and the Middle East.
