Egypt’s Annual Urban Consumer Price Inflation Quickens to 14.9% in July

Egypt's annual urban consumer inflation accelerated to 14.9% in July from 14.3% in June, state statistics agency CAPMAS said on Monday. Nationwide annual inflation rose ⁠13.0% in July ⁠compared with July 2025. Urban food and beverage prices fell 0.6% month-on-month in July, but were ⁠8.0% higher than a year earlier. Nationwide, the all-items index rose 0.1% from June, with food and beverages slipping 0.1% month-on-month. Rural annual inflation reached 11.2% in July, with ⁠rural food ⁠and beverages up 7.8% year-on-year. Thirteen analysts polled by Reuters between July 29 and August 6 had forecast a range of 14.6% to 16.3%.
