Egyptian artists’ exhibition opens in Rome

Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy Bassam Rady, his wife and Rasha Saleh, director of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, inaugurated on Wednesday an exhibition showcasing talents of Egyptian artists. The step is part of the “Echoes of the Present, Legacy of the Future” programme, organised by Artoday CEO Sherine Badr during Rome Art Week 2026. During the opening ceremony, Rady honoured a number of participating artists in recognition of their artistic contributions and involvement in the programme, which aims to showcase Egyptian creativity and strengthen cultural and artistic ties between Egypt and Italy. In his remarks, Rady highlighted the influence of Egypt’s soft power, expressed through its diverse art forms, on European societies, particularly Italy. He noted that Egyptian artistic expression draws on the country’s rich heritage and long history, praising the talented artists whose outstanding works were featured in Rome Art Week. The ambassador also thanked Badr for her continued efforts to promote Egyptian art internationally by organising the participation of Egyptian artists in cultural events abroad. Rady also praised Saleh for hosting the exhibition at the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, highlighting the academy’s role in promoting Egyptian arts and culture in the Italian capital. The programme, running from October 19 to 25, features a range of artistic and cultural activities, including exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions and collaborative art projects. It aims to raise the profile of Egyptian art on the international stage, strengthen links between artists and cultural institutions, and provide new opportunities for cultural exchange and international collaboration.
