Egypt women claim table tennis gold at Taranto 2026

TARANTO — Egypt’s women’s table tennis team won the gold medal in the team event at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, which are taking place until September 3 with 3,803 athletes from 26 countries taking part. The Egyptian team defeated Italy 3-0 in the final, after reaching the title match with a 3-0 victory over Serbia in the semi-finals. Egypt has so far won 31 medals at the Mediterranean Games, including 10 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals, keeping Egypt at the top of the Arab countries’ standings and among the leading medal-winning nations. The 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games is currently taking place in the Italian city of Taranto and will run until Sept. 3, featuring 3,803 athletes from 26 countries.
