Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said Egypt aims to reach new investor segments across diverse financing markets and secure more competitive terms to reduce financing costs. He stressed that fiscal and economic policy priorities focus on supporting private-sector growth, increasing investment and expanding its contribution to the Egyptian economy. Speaking at a meeting with Sameh Shenouda, executive director and head of investments at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group meetings in Bangkok, Kouchouk said the government was working to increase the production and exports of goods and services by encouraging investment in projects with strong economic returns. He added that the AFC was a strategic partner capable of mobilising additional private capital to support development in Egypt. Kouchouk said Egypt was looking to embark on a new phase of bilateral cooperation to advance the financing of Egyptian projects in partnership with the private sector and develop a joint list of priority economic activities to support sustainable growth.
