Egypt, Tajikistan launch first air transport pact

Mohamed Attia Egypt and Tajikistan have initialled their first bilateral air transport services agreement, alongside a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on air operations. This marks a significant milestone in advancing civil aviation co-operation between the two nations. Captain Sameh Fawzy, Chairman of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and his Tajik counterpart, Habibullah Nazarzoda, signed the agreement during an official ceremony held in Dushanbe on Saturday. The agreement aims to establish a comprehensive framework for co-operation in air transport services, enhance the utilisation of available operational capacities, and expand collaboration in training and technical expertise exchange, in line with developments in the global aviation sector. Both sides also agreed on new operational mechanisms to increase flexibility in air services and support an expansion in flight frequencies and passenger seat capacity between the two countries. The new agreement is expected to boost air connectivity, tourism flows, and trade exchanges, while creating broader opportunities for co-operation between national carriers. Representatives from EgyptAir included George Samir from the Alliances Sector, Elham Adly, Director of the International Affairs Department, and Yasser Hadad, Director General of International Affairs at Air Cairo, alongside senior officials from the Tajik civil aviation authority.
