Mohamed Attia Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh al-Hefni affirmed on Saturday that the Alamein International Airport has become a strategic gateway supporting tourism, investment and development projects in New Alamein City and the North West Coast, while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for aviation and international events. He said hosting the second edition of the El Alamein International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (EIAS 2026) reflects the growing international confidence in Egypt’s advanced infrastructure and its proven capability to organise major global events in line with the highest international standards. These remarks came during an inspection tour of Al Alamein International Airport, accompanied by Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company Pilot Wael Al-Nashar, to review the airport’s operational readiness and follow up on preparations for hosting the exhibition. During the tour, Minister al-Hefni inspected the departure and arrival terminals, baggage handling system, departure gates, and passenger and baggage screening equipment. He also reviewed the technical and logistical arrangements across the airport to ensure the efficient reception of participating delegations and the smooth completion of operational procedures in accordance with the highest standards of quality, safety and security. The minister also monitored daily airport operations, including flight punctuality and passenger services, and directed all operating entities to maintain the highest levels of readiness while strengthening coordination to complete the remaining preparations. He also reviewed the progress of the airport’s development projects and completion rates, stressing the importance of adhering to the implementation timetable and delivering all works to the highest technical and operational standards. Minister al-Hefni reiterated that Al Alamein International Airport is a priority within the ministry’s strategy to modernise airport infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency, supporting Egypt’s growing tourism and investment sectors.
