Egypt seeks to expand digital push for investors

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, has affirmed commitment to expanding the use of digital solutions and electronically linking relevant entities to streamline procedures, reduce costs and processing times for investors, and enhance the efficiency of government services. The minister made the remark during a meeting on Tuesday with senior executives of Vodafone Egypt, which discussed opportunities for co-operation in digitalisation, digital transformation, and the development of advanced technological solutions. Farid stressed the importance of consolidating partnerships with the private sector to leverage modern technological expertise in upgrading government services and supporting Egypt’s broader digital transformation agenda. The “TradeTech Regulatory Sandbox” represents a key platform for supporting innovation and testing advanced digital solutions related to trade and investment systems, the minister said. For their part, Vodafone Egypt officials reviewed a number of digital solutions aimed at electronically connecting entities involved in trade operations and enhancing e-services. The discussions also covered potential co-operation in automating trade system and Vodafone Egypt’s participation in the foreign trade regulatory sandbox that the ministry plans to launch in the coming period.
