Egypt, Netherlands boost cooperation in trade, development

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati received Dutch Minister of Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Wiemer to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. Minister Abdel-Aati expressed Egypt’s readiness to work with the new Dutch government to expand cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields. He highlighted opportunities in port development, healthcare, agriculture, ICT, digitalization, infrastructure, financial services, artificial intelligence, and logistics, stressing the importance of boosting Dutch investments in Egypt, particularly in new economic zones and national projects. He also welcomed cooperation in water resources and the growing academic exchange, encouraging Dutch universities to establish branches in Egypt. The Foreign Minister praised constructive collaboration on migration, recalling the high-level Egypt–Netherlands dialogue held in Cairo in July 2025, and emphasized the importance of capacity building and expertise exchange. He also pointed to prospects for trilateral cooperation in Africa, where Egypt can contribute its technical expertise to development and humanitarian projects. For his part, the Dutch Minister commended Egypt’s role in supporting regional security and stability and expressed his country’s eagerness to deepen bilateral ties and broaden cooperation with Egypt.
