As part of the Egyptian state’s vision to expand agricultural land and secure national food supplies, the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development continues its work on the “New Delta” project, the largest integrated agricultural and developmental project in modern Egyptian history. The mega-project spans an immense area of 2.2 million acres west of the old Delta, linking the governorates of Matrouh, Beheira, Giza, and Faiyum. The project aims to achieve self-sufficiency in strategic crops such as wheat and sugar beet. More than 250 agricultural and investment companies are working alongside the authority to narrow the import gap and establish a production base built on crop diversity and the seamless integration of agriculture and industry.
