Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanon and called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territory. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Abdelatty stressed that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity or territorial integrity constitutes a breach of international law and of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The Egyptian minister also reiterated Cairo’s full solidarity with Lebanon in confronting current security and political challenges.
