Dubai’s ‘Our Flexible Summer’ initiative records 98% employee happiness

Dubai: The preliminary results of Dubai Government's 'Our Flexible Summer' 2026 initiative have reaffirmed the success of the emirate's flexible work model, delivering high levels of employee happiness while maintaining productivity and uninterrupted government services.Implemented by the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) for the second consecutive year, the initiative brought together 49 government entities and more than 24,000 employees, reflecting growing confidence in flexible working arrangements following the success of the programme's inaugural edition.The results highlight Dubai Government's ability to balance employee wellbeing with institutional performance, supporting the emirate's vision of creating flexible, sustainable and future-ready workplaces.Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, said the findings demonstrate the effectiveness of Dubai's approach to developing a modern government work environment centred on people, performance and innovation."The experience has proven that flexibility enhances performance rather than diminishing it. It provides employees with greater opportunities to be productive and innovative, reaffirming that investing in people is directly reflected in the quality of government services and institutional performance," he said."What has been achieved through the Our Flexible Summer initiative confirms that developing the work environment is not an objective in itself, but rather a strategic investment in the future of government work."Strong results across key indicatorsSurvey findings from employees and department managers showed positive performance across all major indicators.98% of employees reported happiness with the initiative.97% said productivity levels were maintained.96% confirmed government services continued to be delivered with the same levels of quality and efficiency.The results indicate that the initiative successfully achieved its objectives without affecting workflow, operational performance or customer service standards.Enhancing work-life balanceAccording to DGHR, the flexible work model also contributed to stronger work-life balance, higher employee motivation and greater workplace engagement.The initiative further supported a culture of trust and empowerment across government entities while strengthening the sustainability of institutional outcomes.The results are expected to support the continued adoption of modern workplace practices across Dubai Government, enhancing organisational agility and readiness to meet the evolving demands of the future workplace.Al Falasi said the department will continue developing flexible work models that reinforce Dubai Government's readiness and support its vision of building a more sustainable, agile and people-focused work environment.
