Dubai traffic fines over Dh3,000? Pay in zero interest instalments

Dubai: If you have a significant amount of traffic fines due and are unable to pay them off in one go, you have the option to pay the fine in zero interest instalments.Dubai Police recently promoted their fine instalment service, urging motorists to not let fines accumulate and avail of the easy instalment option available to keep their traffic records clear.Here is all you need to know about the service and how to use it.What is the fine instalment service?The service is offered by Dubai Police in collaboration with select UAE banks. It allows motorists to convert fines issued by Dubai Police into instalments of three, six, nine or 12 months, if the total amount of fines exceeds AED 3,000.Which banks are part of the fine instalment service?Fine payments can be converted into instalments if they are made using credit cards issued by the following banks:Emirates NBDAbu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB)First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB)Emirates IslamicMashreq BankCommercial Bank International (CBI)Conditions that you need to fulfilTo avail of this service, however, there are certain conditions that you would need to fulfil, as per Dubai Police:This service is available only for fines issued by Dubai Police. Fines issued by other emirates or GCC countries are not eligible.The total payable amount must exceed AED 3,000.The Emirates ID used to submit this request must belong to the vehicle owner.The service is subject to bank approval.All fines issued by Dubai Police must be settled together to use this service.Steps to followBefore you begin the service, it is advisable to reach out to your bank to confirm the process for converting the fine payment into instalments, as the payment is converted into an Easy Payment Plan (EPP) by the bank after the payment has been made. Once you have confirmed with your bank, proceed with the following steps:Visit the Dubai Police website – dubaipolice.gov.ae – or use the Dubai Police smartphone application ‘Dubai Police’, which is available for Apple and Android devices.Go to ‘individual services’ and select ‘fines inquiry and payment’. Click on ‘start service’.Tap on ‘pay all fines’. Select the applicable fines from the list on the page. They have to be all the fines issued by Dubai Police and must be over AED 3,000 in total.Select the ‘pay via Direct Debit Instalments’ option and click on confirm.Make the payment using the credit card issued by your bank.Once the payment has been made, call your bank to request them to convert the payment into a three-, six-, nine- or 12-month payment plan.
