Dubai: More than 2,000 athletes representing 57 nationalities have registered for the third edition of the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend, which will take place from November 13 to 15 at Al Mamzar.Supported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, the event will be staged at Al Mamzar for the first time as the T100 Race to Qatar enters its final stages.More than one-third of registered participants have taken part in previous editions of the race. Last year's event attracted more than 3,000 triathletes and over 15,000 spectators.This year's amateur programme will introduce an Olympic-distance triathlon for the first time, featuring a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run, alongside relay events for both Olympic and Sprint distances.Participants will also be able to compete in:Sprint distance: 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run 100km race: 2km swim, 80km bike ride and 18km runSam Renouf, Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), said the strong registration figures reflect the growing popularity of the event.He added that moving the race to Al Mamzar would allow the entire race weekend to be hosted at a single venue, while the addition of Olympic-distance and relay races would encourage broader participation.The professional race in Dubai will feature women only this year under the revised T100 competition format, with 20 of the world's leading female triathletes expected to compete. The final line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.The men's and women's professional fields will reunite for the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final, scheduled for December 10 to 12.Organisers are also encouraging greater participation from Emirati women and girls across the Sprint, Olympic, relay and 100km race categories.The event will form part of the 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which runs from October 31 to November 29 under the emirate's 30x30 initiative.Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, said the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend has become an important fixture on Dubai's sporting calendar, adding that the move to Al Mamzar will showcase another distinctive part of the city to an international audience.Spectator entry will be free throughout the race weekend.
