Dubai Police has warned the public against fraudulent advertisements and messages that promote work, residency, or visit visas in exchange for money. The Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation said these scams are being circulated through social media platforms and messaging applications. The advertisements often use the names of unlicensed companies or offices, or impersonate official entities, to deceive victims and obtain money illegally. The warning comes as part of Dubai Police’s ongoing ‘Be Aware of Fraud’ awareness campaign. The centre stressed the importance of completing all visa-related transactions through the competent authorities or legally approved offices and avoiding intermediaries or untrusted parties.Officials also urged the public to verify the authenticity of any visa offers or procedures through official channels before making any payments or sharing personal information.According to the Anti-Fraud Centre, awareness and verification of the service provider are the first line of defence against fraud. The centre called on community members to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by false promises related to visa issuance or job opportunities offered through illegal means.Dubai Police urged members of the public to immediately report any fraud or attempted fraud through the Dubai Police smart app, the eCrime platform for cybercrime reports, or by calling 901.
