Dubai: Dubai Police have warned the public against fraudulent advertisements promoting work, residency and visit visas in exchange for money, as scammers increasingly use social media platforms and messaging applications to target victims.The warning was issued by the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation as part of Dubai Police's ongoing "Be Aware of Fraud" awareness campaign.According to Dubai Police, fraudsters often use the names of unlicensed companies and offices or impersonate official entities to convince victims to transfer money in exchange for visa services that do not exist.The Anti-Fraud Centre stressed the importance of completing all visa-related procedures through the competent authorities or legally authorised offices, and avoiding intermediaries or unverified service providers.Dubai Police also urged the public to verify the authenticity of any visa offer or related service through official channels before making payments or sharing personal information.The centre emphasised that awareness and verification remain the first line of defence against fraud, warning residents not to be misled by false promises of employment opportunities or visa services offered through illegal means.Dubai Police called on community members to immediately report any fraud incident or attempted fraud through the Dubai Police smart application, the eCrime platform for cybercrime reporting, or by calling 901.
