Dubai: If you’re looking to adopt a pet in Dubai, there is a new digital platform that allows you to not just go through the different cats and dogs that are up for adoption, but also gives you the chance to book.Dubai Municipality has launched a digital pet adoption platform coinciding with the inauguration of the Animal Welfare Shelter in Al Warsan. The shelter was launched on July 27 and includes a range of facilities like a dedicated pre-adoption viewing area, interactive adoption rooms where prospective adopters can meet animals before completing the adoption process, and medical facilities for animal rehabilitation like a veterinary clinic as well a state-of-the-art surgical operating theatre.But before you head over to the centre, you can also view the animals that are up for adoption through the dedicated website launched by Dubai Municipality.Here is all you need to know.How you can view pets for adoption – onlineVisit the Dubai Municipality platform: https://hub.dm.gov.ae/link/servicesdetails?ServiceCode=4130Click on ‘apply now’.Log in using your UAE PASS.You will then be directed to a listing of all the pets that are up for adoption. Each listing includes the animal’s photo, name, breed, age, gender and details about their personalities.Select the pet you wish to adopt and book a timing slot for when you would like to visit the centre. You can then visit the centre to complete the adoption process.Why did Dubai Municipality launch the platform?The platform encourages pet adoption in a manner that meets the highest international standards, and meets Dubai’s aim to be the most civilised city in the world.The adoption platform doesn’t just help reduce the number of stray animals, by placing them in appropriate environments that meet essential animal welfare standards, it also helps protect public health by minimising potential risks associated with unidentified animals or those lacking health records, and gives new owners easy access to help animals who may be in an inconvenient situation.When is an animal put up for adoption?According to Dubai Municipality, that pets that are put up for adoption are those that come into the possession of Dubai Municipality under the following conditions:If the animal is handed over to the Veterinary Services Section by the owner.If the animal is found as a stray.If the animal is handed over to the Veterinary Services Section, and the owner isn't identified within three working days, as specified in Local Order No. (11) of 2003 Concerning Public Health and Safety in the Emirate of Dubai.What are the required conditions for animals to be put up for adoption?They must be in good health.They must belong to a breed allowed for adoption.They must be neutered or spayed.They must be vaccinated and registered in the Dubai Municipality system.What conditions are required to adopt a pet?You mustn't have any record for animal abuse or harm.Men and women can apply to adopt a pet, provided the applicant is at least 21 years old.You must pay the vaccination and registration fees.If you've previously given up an animal to the Veterinary Services Section, you can't apply for a pet adoption through the Veterinary Services Section.What's the adoption process?Animals are made available for adoption through the Veterinary Services Section.Priority is given on a first-come, first-served basis to applications that meet the requirements.Applications are immediately processed (approved/rejected).Animals are handed over to their new owners upon completion of the required procedures.
