Dubai: Dubai International Airport (DXB) has retained its position as the world’s busiest international airport, with airlines scheduling around 8.68 million seats on international flights in both directions during September, according to aviation data provider OAG.OAG data showed that airlines operating at DXB have scheduled 4.34 million international departing seats during the month, translating to approximately 8.68 million seats in both directions.London Heathrow Airport ranked second with around 4 million departing international seats, while Seoul Incheon International Airport moved up to third place with 3.78 million seats.Amsterdam Airport Schiphol ranked fourth with 3.69 million seats, followed by Istanbul Airport in fifth place with 3.59 million.DXB also retained its position as the world’s largest airport for international passenger traffic in 2025, for the 12th consecutive year, according to the Airports Council International’s annual report.DXB welcomed 95.2 million passengers in 2025, an increase of 3.1 per cent compared with the previous year, making it the busiest year in the airport’s history.The airport welcomed 31.5 million passengers during the first six months of 2026, as airline capacity continued to recover and travel demand increased during the second quarter.By the end of the first half of the year, Dubai International was served by 50 international airlines, providing connections to 217 destinations across 99 countries.Aircraft load factors also continued to improve, approaching 2025 levels as international air connectivity expanded.
