Dubai: Dubai's General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club, and the Amer Centre, has launched an instant international driving licence issuance service at Dubai International Airport.The service enables citizens and residents holding a valid UAE driving licence to obtain an international driving licence in just five minutes.GDRFA Dubai said the service is available at the Customer Happiness Centre in the Terminal 3 arrivals area and operates 24 hours a day as part of efforts to streamline travel procedures and provide key services at convenient locations.To obtain the licence, customers must present an Emirates ID, a valid UAE driving licence, a copy of their passport and a personal photograph.The service is supported by digital integration between participating entities, allowing customer data to be verified, applications approved electronically and licences issued immediately.Major General Khalaf Ahmed Al Ghaith, Assistant Director-General for Entry Permits and Residence Affairs, said the initiative reflects Dubai's commitment to delivering proactive government services where customers need them most.He said providing the service at the airport helps travellers complete the process before departing the country.Al Ghaith added that integration between government entities and partners strengthens Dubai's ability to provide flexible and fast services, enhances the travel experience and meets the needs of citizens, residents and visitors.Ahmed Mahboob, Executive Director of the Licensing Agency at the RTA, said the service demonstrates effective cooperation between the participating entities and enables customers to complete their transactions instantly at one of the emirate's busiest locations.The initiative forms part of broader efforts by Dubai government entities to expand digital and interconnected services and make travel-related transactions faster and more convenient.
